I went out before sunrise this morning to begin my walk. Although the temperature was a pleasant 62 degrees, the humidity was registering at 100 percent. That is rather unusual for this locale. That did not stop me from venturing out. I am determined to rebuild my stamina and feel good again. This week I have successfully accomplished hitting the two-mile mark on repeated occasions. Yes, I celebrate the small wins.
Simple tasks have been a struggle for quite some time. Prior to my cancer diagnosis, I had been suffering with low energy and an overall “blah” feeling. Obviously, once it was determined that I had internal bleeding, things started making sense. Further tests eventually led to the cancer diagnosis. As the physical therapist mentioned to me recently, “You have been in decline for ten months. It is not going to rebuild overnight.” Demolition does indeed happen more quickly than rebuilding.
It is my goal to get back to living, not just existing. Rebuilding my strength and stamina is necessary if I am going to be able to do the things I want to do. Developing the discipline to consistently get some exercise is not easy. I have to keep reminding myself that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. I need to treat it as such. Perseverance –do I have it? We shall see.
Blessings to all of you in your journey of life!
