  • Are You Bearing Good Fruit?

Advent Parish Mission 2023 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

I had the privilege of preaching at two Masses this weekend at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Although the photo above is two and a half years old, the desire of God’s people to grow in their faith remains as vibrant as ever. I am blessed to serve in this wonderful faith community.

Several folks asked for a list of the statements (questions) that I posed during the homily. Here you go:

    ************************************************

The call to become saints, to become holy, is given to:

    Every Person / / / / / / / / / / Only “Special” People

    *************************************************

    “Saints in the Making” are:

    All Around Me / / / / / / / / Rarely Encountered

    *************************************************

The spiritual journey is more involved with:

    Self-Control / / / / / / / / / Self-Surrender

    *************************************************

The primary activity of the spiritual journey is:

    Religious Practice / / / / / Human Growth

    *************************************************

    Spiritual growth is about:

    Becoming Aware / / / / / Becoming Sinless

    *************************************************

    Growth in holiness is:

    My Work for God / / / / / God’s Work in Me

    *************************************************

In my life, times of reflection and silence are:

To Be Avoided as Much as Possible / / / / A Definite Need and Pursued

    *************************************************

As I reflect on the call to be holy, I feel:

    Scared / / / / / / / Confident

    *************************************************

    What has shaped your worldview?

How do you perceive your relationship with God?

Through what lens do you view your neighbor?

    *************************************************

Blessings and peace to each of you!
